Garden Bird Survey
Are you ready?
Helping us understand the environment we live in
Spending time out in your garden counting birds brings its own wellbeing benefits – participants report feeling a sense of calm, joy, and curiosity while doing the survey. The data collected also provide an emerging story for how our garden birds are trending, including raising early alerts when a species starts to decline or telling a good news story about species increasing.
Have you picked your comfy spot? Do you have your tally sheet handy and your pencil sharpened? Because the milestone 20th year of the New Zealand Garden Bird Survey starts tomorrow!
Once again, you can join thousands of Kiwis from across the motu to contribute to the emerging story of how our garden birds are faring. You can choose any day from Saturday, 27 June, to Sunday, 5 July, to take part in this collective effort!
