My main subject is light.

Light is necessary for life in both senses — physical and metaphorical. It gives the warmth that keeps us alive, and it carries our most cherished emotions: we light candles in prayer, gather around the hearth, describe happiness as a "radiant smile." Light became our symbol for hope, set against the darkness.

So in my watercolours I capture light against dark surroundings — the bright, clear colours that exist only within a beam, beside the muted colours of shadow. I want to give each painting a radiance the viewer experiences as both a physical presence and an emotional state.
